LANDSCAPE DESIGN - PROCESS

(1)  INITIAL MEETING

When you contact us for the first time, we will set up an appointment to meet with you on site to discuss any issues with your landscape, as well as potential solutions.  We will also take any necessary measurements and pictures in order to aide us in the continuing design process.

(2)  CONCEPTUAL PHASE

After measurements are taken, the designer will draw up a to-scale base plan of the area to be designed.  Depending on size of the space and customer input, one or more concepts will be drawn up for the site.  The majority of our designs are hand-drawn, and most will be rendered with colored pencils or art markers to give a better visual representation of what the final design would look like installed.  During this stage, we also compile all necessary estimates.  Every separate item is listed, along with individual and total costs, so you know exactly what is included in the scope of the project and what you’re getting for your money.

(3)  PRESENTATION

When concepts are finalized and all necessary estimates are complete, the designer will contact you in order to set up a meeting time to present design ideas.  We are always happy to meet you on-site in order to discuss and explain our ideas, however you are more than welcome to meet us at our design office, if you prefer.  Should you request an estimate be mailed through the postal service or by computer, we would be glad to do that for you, as well.

(4)  ADJUSTMENT/FINALIZATION PHASE

Often during a presentation, more ideas come to mind, and clients are able to better determine what they are or are not looking for in the finished product.  Any changes that are mentioned will be addressed and adjusted as needed on all designs and estimates.  Again, either another presentation appointment is set up, or designs and estimates will be mailed.  Once you have reviewed all final documents, you may either choose to discontinue the process, or accept the estimate and continue on to the next stage.

(5)  INSTALLATION

Depending on the season, weather, and current work schedule, it may take a couple weeks to even a few months before we are able to begin your project.  We usually have a good idea when you can expect us to begin work.  As soon as we know for certain when we will be arriving on your property, we will call.  If there are any other projects occurring on your site at the same time we will be there, we would appreciate knowing ahead of time in case we need to make any adjustments for that.  The length of the installation process varies with the scope of the work, any additional work requested after initial work has begun, and of course, weather.  Usually the designer can give you a good idea beforehand of how long we will be on site.

(6)  FOLLOW UP

Once a project is installed and complete, we generally call or check on the site to make sure you are pleased and that everything you expected would happen is fulfilled.  If at any time during or after the process you have any concerns about the work, please let us know so we can alter it to your satisfaction.
