HARDSCAPE
The use of hardscaping in a landscape can come in a variety of forms. The materials can be man-made or natural,
installed in a wide variety of designs, and utilize several types of construction techniques.

Hardscape is generally classified as being vertical or horizontal, wet-laid or dry-laid, or structures.
Vertical hardscapes include walls and columns, horizontals include patios and steps, and structures
include pergolas and arbors. Wet-laid materials make use of concrete and are mortared or grouted into place.

Dry-laid materials are constructed without the use of cement, but are instead held in place by the
forces of gravity and friction. Each type of hardscape has a place where its use is most appropriate.
Our designers can help to explain the advantages of the different systems of installation.
